About M FurnitureBack in the 90’s Angelo Comparini - Director - and Richard Wetherell (both qualified Carpenters and Joiners) worked side by side on a variety of refurbishment projects. They developed an excellent professional and personal relationship so when an opportunity arose to bid for a large fit out project of 80 flats in Peckham they seized it and formed a new company together in 2005.
More jobs quickly followed and the word of mouth on the company began to build. Their primary work was in Decking, General Carpentry and Building with an emphasis on carpentry, In the early days they developed a reputation for going to any lengths to get a job finished on time. When the need arose they sometimes even made cabinets on driveways or in back gardens, not fun in January! Customers admired their dedication and quite enjoyed seeing furniture being manufactured in front of them.
Restaurant Fit-OutIn 2007 The company completed its first restaurant fit out for Applebees in Wanstead. The clients were delighted with the ‘can do ‘ attitude, the bar had to be manufactured on site in the staff smoking area in order to meet the deadline.
Shortly afterward they bought a container shortly so they could manufacture and spray on site. The first job where it came into use was a contract to transform a florist into a restaurant in Borough Market e profits from the job into machinery. They also made the long planned move into custom made Joinery and furniture manufacturing. During that time they also completed th for Applebees Fish. They manufactured all the Joinery for this job from the 20 foot container including 3 Staircases and a 60 ft bar, Thanks to a succession of late nights and Sundays the Restaurant opened on time, the clients were very happy and the company had completed our first £150k contract.
They moved into larger premises and invested their fastest ever fit out of a restaurant in Camden. In 16 days, working day and night, they turned around a job that ordinarily would have taken months.
Floating ShelvesAs they continued to make fitted furniture including wardrobes, bathrooms, and kitchens they noticed a growing demand for floating shelves. So they started to manufacture those as well.
The team grew, Phil Tappin joined in 2008, then Ronnie arrived soon after. Then, Bob then Martin and most recently Ross. They began to sell floating shelves direct via the website thanks to a unique online calculator which gave people an instant quotation with an option to buy on the spot. This was a major turning point. They purchased a cnc machine in order to compete with the bigger joinery Companies,,
In March 2009 they won their largest joinery contract, thanks again to a customer referral. They attended their first exhibition the KBB show at the Nec which opened the doors to more potential clients ranging from kitchen retailers to high end developers.
The team recently were asked to join ITV’s 60 minute makeover for a few shows that they are currently involved in. They are currently in the process of acquiring new software so they can compete with the larger companies and gain larger contracts, They are also in the process of building a new website that shows the work with the added extra of being able to sell furniture and hardware as well as floating shelves,
What does the future hold? A continuing focus on the needs of our customers leads to the Ultimate Goal: opening High Street shops bringing made to measure furniture to a wider market.
